Nelly
says that he's an innocent man.
The
37-year-old rapper spoke to TMZ Thursday regarding reports that drugs and a gun
were found on his tour bus Wednesday night.
"It
is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring
unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this
morning," he told TMZ.
According
to the Associated Press, authorities discovered small amounts of heroin, a
loaded gun and approximately 10 pounds of marijuana in a duffel bag on his bus
at a notorious West Texas border checkpoint near Sierra Blanca.
·
"Neither
I, nor anyone else on the tour bus, was aware of his decision to bring these on
board," the rapper (whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr.) added.
"Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than
that individual.”
Nelly
and five other passengers were released after one man admitted the drugs and
gun belonged to him. The rapper wrote an even more personal note on Twitter
regarding the incident tweeting Thursday, "I'm not gonna front I'm mad as
Hell about this s---! To have someone who works for you and who you call a
friend for over 10 years jeopardize your life WTF?"
"That
being said he was not only an employee but he was family -- someone who
protected my life for many years!" he added. "No excuses for what he
did! My heart goes out to his family and his kids!"
WELCOME TO NELLYVILLE
His second mistake was running
to twitter spitting out lies that contradicted every thing he said. “That he wasn’t gone to front, that he was
mad as hell about this shit; he worked for him for over ten years. Jeopardize is life, he was family, someone who
protected my life for many years.”
Now which is it? He either Jeopardizing your life or
protecting your life and to do so, I guess he needed that gun unless he was
good with his hands. Then to go on and
say he knew nothing of this, is to may as well say after ten years considering
him as family, he didn’t know that he liked to smoke pot during and before a
road trip also.
Sometimes as your lawyer always
recommend, the less you say the better off for everyone concerned. This guy been part of your road crew as you
stated for over ten years and in that time each of you got high together, so
don’t say you didn’t know where the dope bag came from or the gun he waved
around wishing someone wound try and fuck with his (n.)
Now your heart goes out to him
and his family. He better pray you don’t
screw him like Puff Daddy done in the past to those that thought the same, “He’ll
do right by me.”
There is no hope for us; because
this is the image and message that we have been sending our youth the day we
stood on their backs to get here. They
say, “You can take them out of the ghetto, but for some, you can’t take the
ghetto out of them.” Then we try to
pretend we are from somewhere else by not looking back or giving back to help
the next person to rise up. Today you
can’t name one black role model, because there isn’t one person willing to step
up to the plate, but cry, “I’m a man, I’m handling mine.” We lead by example which is just one more
reason why Christ came. For THINKING OUT
LOUD, I’m E. L. PLEASANT.
