THE KNOWLEDGE

James Harris III, Janet Jackson, and Terry Lewis

IF KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, WHAT THE HELL ARE WE WAITING FOR?

Insight to what's going on
Information keeps us strong
What you dont know can hurt you bad
Take it from me you'll be walking around sad
Crying for a better day
Until you educate for a better way
So if you wanna be in control Ya gotta get yourself in the know

Get the knowledge
That you really want
The knowledge
Do you really want
It's the knowledge
What you really want

The knowledge
That you really want

Spreading vise don't believe the hype
You don't find the knowledge in a pipe
Too many lives go up in smoke
It's nice to laugh but don't be the joke
To get over get better
Try to be the possessor
Of the one thing we all need in life
To succeed take my advice

Prejudice No!
Ignorance No!
Bigotry No!
Illiteracy No!

Listen it's up to everyone
If we're gonna change the way the world is run
The way to start is to rid the children of
Prejudice & ignorance
We've gotta teach our kids to read & write
That's the only way to win this fight for life
Education is the goal so
If you wanna be in the know
Get the knowledge
It's the one thing we all need in life

"Deep education requires a habitual vision of greatness"

Once again the call for unity went out in 1989 and yet to be answered or was it not loud enough to be heard?  If you missed it then, let us repeat them now.  One of the most important songs of Janet Jackson’s career was the insight to what was going on.

Another test as a race we failed to comprehend what was being asked of us and whom this empty plea went out to unheard or to be answered.  Blacks making money off of poor blacks to rise to fame only to end up in the arms of a white person and then forgetting how he or she got there, we cheer them on all the way to the top only to be looked down on as those nigger’s that mean nothing to them.

Each one of us has a roll to play and a duty to each other.  If you made it then you are responsible for your brother or sister making it.  You have to change the way you think, and stop thinking of yourself, then put our race first before trying to help someone else fight for freedom when we don’t have it ourselves.  We need to turn away from those things that are distractions and pay more attention to getting educated. It is 2013

And we as poor people are the descendents of Kings and Queens so it is time to start becoming what we are in each eyes.  As the arrow is pointed, “You are here,”, and here we are.  We have been put down, beating down, pulled down by our own and it is time to pull ourselves up like the republicans been screaming since the end of slavery to fight from our own independents, we have the power, but it’s going to take every single black person standing together.  Are You with Me?  It’s better to be loved for doing something than to be hate for doing nothing.
